The Story Behind Why Not Now
This Vintage CD is a re-mastering of an LP that began in 1980 at Pinewood Studios in Vancouver, BC, as a demo for an engagement at “Le Jazze” in Quebec City. Because of the unique sound and the excitement of the recording engineer, this soundtrack became an LP manufactured by Disques L’Enclume. Soon after being favorably received by the media and with a 4 1/2 out of 5 stars rating from DOWNBEAT Magazine, the albums mysteriously disappeared from the distributor along with all masters from the studio’s vault in Quebec.
A personal copy of Why Not Now, has been digitally re-mastered at JABLU Studio, and this explains the occasional minute scratch you might detect.
To complete this “Vintage Edition” CD, special tracks entitled “A Study in Blues” have been added to give the listeners an opportunity to hear Mike in today’s setting. These originals also provide a foretaste of Mike’s online music course “Jazz from a Blues Point of View”.
